Braastad Cognac is named after Sverre Braastad, who was born in Gjøvik in Norway in 1879. He developed a passion for cognac for 100 years – until he died in 1979. When he took over Tiffon, where Braastad is made, he started developing the company. which is now run by his son Robert and grandchildren Antoine, Richard and Jan. Tiffon is now the largest family company in the Cognac district. According to the cognac classification, a VS cognac (Very Superior) must be stored in oak barrels for at least 2 years. Braastad VS includes cognacs that have aged between 2 and 4 years in limousine oak barrels in the family cellars in Jarnac
