1924 Peter Mertes, a winegrower, set up his own wine cellar, which is still a family business today. It is currently located in Bernkastel-Kues on the Moselle, in a vineyard and town with a tradition of more than 2,000 years, which is the only German region to be called the “City of Grapes and Wine”. The company has rich wine cellars. The Peter Mertes logo is inspired by storks living on the Moselle. In the 1990s, with the spread of the New World wine trend, Peter Mertes’ cellar began to bottle and market wines produced extensively on the American and African continents.
