The white rum comes from the Caribbean island of Barbados, where the rum has a lighter and finer taste than other rums and also contains notes of sugar cane and butter. The first step in making Malibu is to extract sugar cane syrup. The syrup is left over after the cane juice has been heated to make cane sugar. This syrup is mixed with water and yeast and then fermented into alcohol. The fermented syrup is distilled three times in bespoke stills at the Black Rock distillery in Barbados. The result is a light, delicate and smooth white rum that is mixed with natural coconut, mango or coconut, as well as banana and sugar to create the most famous rum in the world with exotic flavors.
